Event Report: “To Our Future Selves” – Discussing Life’s Turning Points and Hope with High School Students

東京都立調布北高校で1、2年生約300人シーン

On December 24, 2024, I had the opportunity to give a lecture to approximately 300 first and second-year students at Tokyo Metropolitan Chofu Kita High School.

The event began with a presentation by Mr. Junichiro Matsumoto (Japan Forest Technology Association), a former Senegal Cooperation Volunteer who has been involved in global reforestation efforts for many years. Following his talk, I delivered a speech titled “To Our Future Selves.”

At 16 years old, these students are at the same age I was when I experienced a turning point in my life. After nearly half a century, I felt deeply moved to have the chance to engage with young people who are the same age I was at that pivotal moment.
