On November 25, 2024, a dialogue was held with all students of Kyoei Gakuen Junior High School in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo. This school is renowned for its strong sports programs, with their baseball team participating in the Koshien tournament last year, and also famous for volleyball and dance. The school is filled with energetic and hardworking students.
In this peace-oriented dialogue, using SDGs as a topic, we deliberately presented a contrast: the goal of excelling and becoming number one versus goals that can be shared by everyone, such as preserving blue skies for future generations. While both types of goals are admirable, we emphasized that to co-create the future, it’s crucial to consider how much we can empathize with others.
