Our member Makoto Kajita appeared on “AOZORADIO 006,” a radio program streamed by Shiki no Kai, and introduced Forum2050’s activities and the learning materials we are now creating to help children “think about peace as their own issue.”
Shiki no Kai is an organization that helps children and young people put their thoughts into words and share them with society. Through streaming the radio program “AOZORADIO” and creating spaces for dialogue, it offers opportunities to think about the future.
On the program, we imagined ourselves in 2050 and talked about the future: How will society change? How will the shape of happiness change? What can we do now to create future happiness? Along the way, we shared the view that peace is not something happening in a faraway world, but a theme connected to our daily lives and choices. By picturing the future concretely, a perspective naturally emerged: thinking about peace leads to thinking about “what kind of future do I want to live in?”
Through this appearance, we felt strongly that the power to create peace is not something someone gives us, but something we grow within ourselves. We also felt that spaces for talking about the future connect people across generations and positions, and become a starting point for thinking about peace.
