On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Forum2050 took part in the “2026 Summer Grand Exchange Meeting: Poster Fes,” held at Suginami Kyodo (Collaborative) Plaza in Tokyo.
Eighteen local groups gathered with posters about their work. It was the first event of its kind held by Suginami City, and we were glad to be invited to join.
Small-group visits to each booth
Visitors moved around in small groups, stopping at each booth in turn.
We were able to connect with civic groups active in the local community, and to talk directly with residents who came to the event.
Listening to learn, speaking to improve
In the first half, I listened to presentations by nine groups. In the second half, I gave a three-minute presentation on Forum2050 nine times.
I learned from the work of other groups, and each round helped me sharpen my own presentation. It was a valuable experience.
Enjoying the work
What struck me most was how much the other groups clearly enjoyed what they do.
I believe that joy is the starting point of all civic activity.
Looking ahead
We hope to explore, together with the local partners we met, what we can do next, always keeping children’s hopes for the future at the center.
We are deeply grateful to the organizers who invited us and to everyone who took part.
