On October 10, 2024, Representative Toda gave a lecture at Higashi Junior High School in Nagaoka City, targeting second-year students. The event was organized by Nagaoka City. Nagaoka is renowned for its enthusiasm for education, famously exemplified by the “Kome Hyappyo” (One Hundred Sacks of Rice) historical anecdote about education in the Nagaoka domain. The school facilities are designed to function as evacuation centers during disasters. While armed conflicts (man-made disasters) and natural disasters differ significantly, there may be many commonalities in the spirit of those who face these challenges.
