About the workshop

Today, peace cannot be taken for granted in the world. As wars and armed conflicts continue, have you ever thought about peace as something that concerns you? We will hold this workshop in Suginami City as a chance for children, who will shape the future, to learn about the realities of the world and think about peace. We will also screen a video introducing children in Bangladesh and Cambodia and their hopes for peace. No special knowledge or experience is needed, and young people and families are welcome.

Schedule

The morning and afternoon sessions have the same content.

Part 1: Let’s share material to think about together

• “Why should we think about peace now?” “What does peace mean to us?”
• “What is happening to children around the world now?” (with video)

Part 2: Let’s talk together

• Your thoughts: “What first made you interested in peace?” “What does peace mean to you?” “Peace doesn’t feel like my own issue . . .”
• (Drawing on your own experience) “How can people around us, especially young people, come to see peace as their own issue?”
